AFF Great Britain
Annington Trust
The Annington Trust was set up at the time of the purchase of the Married Quarters Estate by Annington in 1996. It was one of a number of measures taken by the company to demonstrate its commitment to families living in quarters.
A capital sum of £500,000 was contributed by those involved in the purchase of the estate and the Trust was established to support activities and projects 'on the patch'. Income from invested capital is used to make grants to successful applicants.
The Annington Trust has made grants to a variety of projects for the benefit of families living on the patch. These have included support for new equipment for community centres and playschools, for Brownies and for youth activities. They have generally been around £500 and the Trustees have welcomed evidence of self-help and of other fundraising by applicants. The Trust will not support projects which could receive public funding but will always consider carefully those which will make life on the patch better.
Applications to the Trust should be made using this application form.
If you want to give additional information, please attach it to the form. The Annington Trust wants to know about the project itself and about the community it will help. The more background information that you give, the easier it will be for Trustees to decide how they may be able to help.
Back to topGB Co-ordinator Network
The GB Co-ordinator and Volunteer network is the bedrock of AFF's communication with families in GB and is run from AFF Central Office by the AFF GB Co-ordinator Team Leader and Personnel Administrator.
Co-ordinators throughout England, Scotland and Wales send us regular reports on their activities and constantly refer individual cases either to Central Office, to the Specialists or the overseas Branches. They also liaise with local Units and develop and manage a network of Volunteers for their areas. We are continually improving the support we give Co-ordinators and Volunteers, with training at Co-ordinators' Conferences, regular monthly newsletters and an appraisal system. Many of our Co-ordinators and Volunteers continue to work for AFF when they move, or successfully go onto further employment in other fields using the skills they have acquired working for AFF.
Our ongoing commitment to all our staff includes providing training to support the varied talents and skills that are necessary to work in this important and (sometimes!) challenging field. In addition, AFF was recognised by Wiltshire and Swindon TEC as operating Family Friendly policies for its staff and we were very
proud to receive the accreditation in November 1999. The Army Families Federation (AFF) has also been officially recognised as an Investor in People (IIP), which means that the organisation has been assessed and identified as having achieved the National Standard for effective investment in the development of AFF employees.
Check out our Co-ordinators Contact Details, or call AFF Central Office on 01980 615525 to find out who represents AFF in your area. If you would like to join AFF as a Co-ordinator, look at the jobs section under Work for AFF on this website, or call AFF Central Office for more details. If you would like to know more about being an AFF Volunteer Unit Rep, contact your local AFF Co-ordinator, or AFF Central Office.
Join the team and make a difference!
If you are a good communicator, with drive and determination, and are known for getting things done, then you are just the sort of person we are looking for. This work is rewarding every day - in our different locations one of the team in whatever capacity is making the difference, whether it is "changing attitudes", or simply offering support or guidance to another relevant source. If all this has an appeal, either as a AFF Co-ordinator or a Volunteer, then you really must call 01980 615830 - but not without taking a tour around the clear and informative AFF website first, check out the current Vacancies in GB.
