Your magazine

"It takes a lot for me to be impressed by a magazine but yours certainly did it!"

The Journal is delivered FREE four times a year to Army families worldwide, and is the only magazine of its kind - written by Army families for Army families. It is the voice of the Army Families Federation, a vital channel of communication, a source of information, and a platform for voicing the concerns and interests of Army families.

The Journal is published quarterly for the AFF by Method Publishing, and has a print run of 64,000. The magazine was redesigned in 2006 and continues to evolve a positive, colourful and information-packed identity. The Journal's editorial independence ensures its credibility

"Just knowing what's going on, and what you can find out for yourself about all kinds of issues is great."

This festive season my thoughts are with the many Army families spending Christmas apart from their soldier and those who have lost loved ones on operations.

I’m pleased to say that this is another bumper issue of the Journal with lots of useful news and information for Army families. We look at the fertility treatment available for Service families in our special feature ‘Infertility – the hidden truth’ and explore the procedures in place to ensure Service children with special educational needs get all the right support. We have top tips for starting up your own business, plus, Jill Baines, AFF’s GB Director, adds food for thought with her article ‘Recognising the wider family’ reviewing the changes to the traditional Army family. AFF would really like to hear your views on this topic.

In our News from around the World section we compare the differences between UK and American deployments and welfare support from a family’s point of view and, as usual, Postbag is full of interesting letters which will hopefully inspire you to put pen to paper. From support for those suffering from PTSD to changes to the BFPO system and move-in standards; there’s something for everyone to get their teeth into!
